Half Marathon for Macmillan!

I am proud to say that the total raised for Macmillan is £1100 which will be matched by DMS Navigator, so the grand total is £2200!! I am over the moon!!

When I was scheduled to write this article – prior to the event taking place, I was expecting to be sat here writing a glowing story about walking 26 miles whilst slightly sobbing that my feet hurt… However, my day did not go to plan! On the plus side, my feet do not hurt!

Unfortunately, unknowingly to me, covid finally caught up with me! Guess it was going to happen at some point or another but when due to do a 26-mile hike, it wasn’t ideal timing!

However, I am still proud to say we still managed a half marathon! Even with being sick at every stop. I was almost going to carry on, but at the last minute decided otherwise and the volunteers also agreed it was best to stop otherwise I would have ended up even more ill and on top of that dehydrated! It wasn’t worth the risk.

The event was so well organised by Macmillan! The route was clearly marked out with volunteers spread out across the walk who were all friendly and kept you going. Although, I am pretty sure they kept fibbing about how many miles it was until we hit the lunch stop!

The pitstops were fully equipped! The best snacks I have had on an event before. The selection was massive! Haribo’s, Mini Cheddars, Banana’s, you name it!! And even better, the snacks weren’t limited, and you could also stack up your bags… Which obviously I did! I am all for food so if someone says take as much as you like, I’m taking it!

The views around the Lake District are stunning! They certainly keep you going! You can’t help but stare and take it all in, must spend a good proportion of your time just stood taking it all in!

It may seem like a long distance and not that appealing at first! But it does make for a fab day out and I highly recommend it to anybody that is contemplating it! There is the 26-mile hike or a half marathon, ran on separate days.

I am proud to say that the total raised for Macmillan is £1100 which will be matched by DMS Navigator, so the grand total is £2200!! I am over the moon!!

Thank you so much to everyone for the support and donations!

I will be doing the 26-mile mighty hike again next year but more so for myself! As I really want to cross that finish line!
